Power Supply died after 1 year, I agree with the other reviewer, would have been a great case until the power supply suddenly died. A new one would probably cost as much as a case, I'll have to buy a new power supply for this sucker.
Xion mATX case Cool But..., (What's this?) When I first saw this case I thought WOW...mATX case with 450 watt PSU...very cool and front USB and Memory Card reader....SWEET! But, there are some problems with this case, first off it is very very noisey. The PSU fan not so much but the CPU fan is terrible...now that of course has really nothing to do with the case...except for the fact I think the case amplifies said fan. The fan that is on top on the case is quiet, but can get a slight squeeky for my liking. This case puts out a tremendous about of heat...now I've really never worked with many mATX cases so this is my first time, but other slimline computers like the HP slimlines are not this noisy, or hot. I sold this computer with a AMD Phenom II x4 to my father in law and his old computer he told me ran quiet and not nearly this hot. I am building him a new computer with the same motherboard and cpu but in a standard ATX case with a quieter CPU fan..and building my daughter one with this case. SO...long story short it is a good case for any type of CPU, just make sure you don't mind the constant fan noise from it or the heat.
Nice design, poor power supply, (What's this?) I love the design of this case and had no trouble with installation using the instructions included. Only two cons:
1. The power supply is extremely loud. Forget using this in your home theater area.
2. Audio connectors attached to the front panel do not seem to match up with standard Gigabyte motherboards (I'll be using a USB headset so it's not a big deal either way). Maybe they do but I could never find any information on this.
If it were not for the horrible power supply, this case would be a good buy, I had this case for less than 3 months and the power supply overheated and died. I tried looking for a better replacement power supply, but since it is not a standard one I am SOL. I had to buy a new case, but I am going with a larger one this time that has a standard power supply in it. You should spend a little more money on a better small form factor case otherwise you'll be looking around for a new power supply that is not from this company. I took the PSU apart to see what happened, and clearly the company that makes these cuts corners. The soldering looked like it was done by a 8 year old...no wonder the thing failed so quickly.
Very loud, (What's this?) Nice little case and nicely organized inside, but be aware, it is extremely loud. I have much older systems and they don't sound anything close to this. The power supply fan is very loud. Do not recommend or buy again.
Decent small case, (What's this?) Let me preface this by saying this was the cheapest, tiniest case I could find...so you get what you pay for. That said this is a pretty cool case.
I love the small form factor and the look is pretty sweet IMHO.
Serves it's purpose for a good price., (What's this?) I assembled a batch of nettop systems with this case and Intel Atom mini ITX boards. I know there are smaller cases I could use, but since my goal was to build something compact and inexpensive for around $200 that would fit a DVD drive this was the best choice I found.
Pros:
Comes with a stand so you can set it upright as well as flat. Drive tray can fit 2.5" notebook drives. Power supply wattage is more than adequate for Intel Atom based system. Built in card reader is a nice bonus. Good value.
Cons:
I agree the instructions are fairly basic, but if you ever put a computer together before it is fairly straightforward. The one part I didn't like was matching the pins for the audio connectors with the wires on the Intel board. To add to the confusion, the board came with a color coded diagram but it didn't match the wire colors on this case. I ended up having to run the computer and test the sound until I found the correct wiring layout, then snap a photo of it for when I built the rest of them.
HTPC, (What's this?) I received this case today. Very fast delivery. Opened the box and looked over the case..Exactly what I wanted and I am please with this order. I'll build it tomorrow. Just the right size for my purpose.
Small and meets my needs, (What's this?) I recently updated key parts of my computer and needed to enlarge my power supply. I'm very pleased with this case because it is small - even smaller than my last slim profile case, - it has a nice sleek look, and after several weeks of use everything is functioning properly.
Good Small Form factor Case, This is a small case but the design is well thought out. It is a tight confines for all the 'stuff in there, but better than other small cases we have used in layout. While the directions are skimpy, they are adequate for assembly. The front plastic doors are flimsy, you will have to be careful with them to get useful life. The case is still usable with them removed. The card slots are short; no standard heighth cards will fit. When case is mounted vertically, you will need the feet attached as the power supply air flow comes from the bottom of the case and the flow would be blocked if the case did not have feet for clearance. The top fan does a good job of exhausting the case of hot air. The case is tight around the mATX motherboard, but is good for a case this small. Cabling length is good, but if you install a CD/DVD drive in the case, the cable routing is messy. In our use, we do not install a CD/DVD drive (public access system), and excess cable length is tied in that cavity. The 450w mATX power supply is a little unique in design (has a long cable to connect the 110v power cord from the back to the power supply in the front). I suspect we will purchase a spare case to make sure I can have a spare power supply.
5 in 1 Card reader , USB x 2, HD Audio and MIC for convenient usage.Smooth Edges, Rear window EMI(CE) Shield with Ventilation efficiency.Support 1x 80mm fans and Dual VENTS design for better airflow than traditional cases ..Stylish Glossy Black Front Panel, Sophisticated, Slim, and compact design for Dual position setup_ Vertical or Horizontal.Fits Micro ATX/Mini ITX Standard Motherboards and Power Supplies..
